Investing in Remanufactured products is a reasonably safe investment because the market needs are big and it is a market which is growing in Europe. In the USA which is a mature market the demand for remanufactured car components amounts to approx. 60 million units every year.
In Europe the market has not yet reached maturity and it is still growing. The potential in Europe is for approx. 30 million units. Currently we have reached the level of approx. 15 million or in value 4 billion Euro. APRA estimates that by 2005 an annual level of production of approx. 20 million units will be reached.
Compared to the alternatives to remanufactured products like new units, repaired units, or used units, the remanufactured product has already reached in certain areas of application quite a high market share. For example for starters and alternators the share of remanufacturing is high, while for other products like air condition remanufacturing, there exist a big potential for future growth.
